quiet time

wish I were here...wherever it is...
I may have told you this before, but I think I require more alone time than most people. I think it's because deep down, I'm really an introvert (those of you that know me best are not surprised).

Every once in a while, (ok, more often than that) I need a day just to myself with no human interaction. It's not that I'm sad or down or depressed. Just the opposite, actually: sometimes it takes me a few hours of quiet to totally recharge my social-interaction batteries. I honestly think it's the only time my brain is truly at rest. And don't ask me to complete a task just because I happen to be at home; I may get fussy.

Today is one of these special days. I've been with a media group since Sunday, and although I'm having a great time and getting to see some really good friends, while they're on a canoe in the Mississippi River, I've so been looking forward to spending just a few hours doing all the quiet things that I like to do - blogging, reading and watching TV to name a few (Food Network is on right now). I've even already taken a walk, and I may take another one later. Then again, I may not.

Friends, do you ever feel this way? Are you an introvert like me? What do you do on your own "me days?"

my mom always told me that learning to spend time with yourself was the best gift you could give yourself. i 100% agree. nothing like a little me time to recharge even for an extrovert!

Just. Like. You. Best lesson I learned in college was the real meaning of the introvert: the one who is energized by her time alone. And my favorite quiet time activity is cooking a new recipe. Cheers to introverts!

I love being alone too. However, that time won't come again for me for about 20 more years! :) My time right now is consumed with my girls, but I know that later down the road I'll have plenty of alone time.

MSKS, i was saying the same thing to somebody just today! if i don't have some "down time" to myself after school everyday, i get really ill. and my family understands that when we're all together, i sometimes have to leave to "take max out" (which really means i need to go to my house and just sit for a couple of hours). i think a little (key word: a LITTLE) alone time does the mind a body good! xo

I going to make my husband read this bc I've never been able to articulate exactly what you just said and my requests for alone time end up sounding like, 'go away I don't want you here.' I love the ppl on my life, they wouldn't be in it if not but man I love a good book and several hours of no human interaction whatsoever. Harder to come by these days but the combination of napping children and a hunting husband get me a few hours here and there- but what I really need is the occasional vacation from being me!
