Very happy birthday wishes to my friend, Mary-Kathryn! Wish I could tell you in person - I would bring you a cupcake with lots of icing and a green banana.

wish list wednesday
What am I wishing for this Wednesday?
* To go to Miami for the Super Bowl! OK, ok, just to look for Kimmy.
* One of Kallie’s gorgeous hello delta photos. She is just so darling and talented. And she even takes requests!
* These absolutely adorable salt and pepper cellars. They are so conducive to me pretending I am on the Food Network when I cook!
* To make it just 2 more days till pay day. My checking account is coughing and sputtering through this week.
* Another Wolfe bird. They are so joyful and happy and make me ready for spring. Tweet! Tweet!

hi there.
Hello out there. It’s Monday. Again. And therefore, time for an update on what’s going on with me. You’re dying to know, am I right?
I did something this weekend that I REALLY hate to do. REALLY hate it. And I rarely do it. I resigned from a book early. I can’t say it’s the first time I’ve ever done it, and it won’t likely be the last time, but still. I gave this one 200 pages (it’s nearly 1000 pages long), telling myself that it would get interesting soon (as it came very highly recommended), but alas. It NEVER did. Now, that’s not to say that if you should pick it up and read it, you won’t find it as riveting as the comments on Amazon.com say it is. I just didn’t. But, don’t fret: I’m going to town on a new book, The Book Thief, and it is really great. Thank goodness. And thanks, Claire, for the glowing recommendation. Review to come.
I absolutely love it when one of my funny friends starts a blog. I kind of feel like it’s a small victory for me. Needless to say, I’ve been trying to get Laura Merrill to start a blog for probably years now, and I finally won her over! Hooray! Be sure to check her out; I know you'll find her as delightfully hysterical as I do. Another one bites the dust.
Have a happy Monday, readers! Or at least try to.

sweetheart
I love the Food Network. I love Ace of Cakes. And I love, love, love Geof! I have to admit, I have a little crush on his laid-back, super talented, witty personality. And I saw him playing guitar on the most recent episode - yowzaa! Totally random, I know. Check out the show, and you'll get it - I promise.
Do you have a completely random crush? C'mon, tell me!

wish list wednesday
What am I wishing for this Wednesday?
* That Jake would just get rid of Vienna already.
* That I could get into the book I’m reading. 200 pages in and still not interesting. I’m dying here!
* A return of some cold weather (dare I even say it?).
* That I hadn’t lost my sunglasses for several days only to find them on top of the dryer under some doggy t-shirts. Yes, I am a little embarrassed.
* Some Chuck Taylors. Kell thinks they’re silly, but I adore them. Especially in grey.

oh, emily blunt...
Share the wealth, would ya? You’re gorgeous, were awesome in Sunshine Cleaning, you had the best dress at the Golden Globes (in this blogger’s humble opinion), and you’re engaged to the one and only Jim Halpert (a.k.a. John Krasinski). Throw me a bone!
Who wore your favorite dress at the GG’s?

desperation in devastation
If you’ve switched on the news just once for a moment in the past couple of days, it’s no doubt you’ve seen coverage of the destruction resulting from the recent 7.0-magnitude earthquake to hit the devastatingly poor country of Haiti. The Red Cross estimates that 45,000 to 50,000 people were killed in Tuesday’s earthquake, and the death toll is expected to rise.
I cannot fathom the suffering of these impoverished people, many of whom went without basic needs on a regular basis. The country’s over 10 million residents are clamoring for food, water and hope when this silly blog is wishing for new boots, curtains and throw pillows. We as Americans have so much, yet we often appreciate so little.
President Clinton said earlier that the greatest way to get aid to those in need are for many, many of us to donate just a little money. Should you be interested in contributing to the cause, please visit Fox News’ How to Help link for an alphabetical listing of legitimate organizations providing assistance (I personally chose to give through the Samaritan’s Purse).
Have a most thankful weekend, friends.

wish list wednesday
What am I wishing for this Wednesday?
* That the local shoe stretchers don't transform my 6 1/2-sized boots into size 11's!
* Some good leggings that make my legs look long and lean.
* A GPS for my car. Any suggestions of good, affordable ones?
* A new collar for Olive.
* Some great new throw pillows for my living room. How gorgeous are these? Maybe I could make them work somewhere...

baby, it's cold outside!
I don't know about you out there in internet-land, but I've been cold this week! I didn't know what to wear today seeing as though my big MSU sweatshirt might not be work appropriate.
And for me, when there's cold weather, there's soup. I made some white bean chicken chili (I'll post the recipe later) that was warm and delicious, but I'd love to hear about your favorite cold weather cuisine. Please share! Perhaps your recipe will appear later on as a Delicious Dish, where it will be read by like 7 people! What an incentive, eh?

what a view
Ok, so if you’ve been a follower of this blog for a while, you are probably well aware of my love for Little Green Notebook, a blog MK shared with me ages ago. I check in with Jenny every day for decorating advice, color confidence (you should see the bright blue sconces in my foyer!) and great projects. You should too!
Earlier this week, she blogged about her fave posts of 2009, this being one of them: make darling custom shades from your mini-blinds! I haven’t tried this project myself, but it looks pretty easy and really great. Look how cute hers are!

wish list wednesday
What am I wishing for this Wednesday?
* To silver leaf some furniture a la Little Green Notebook. I love how the silver leaf makes it look all antique-y.
* That some (ok, most) of the girls on The Bachelor would Get. A. Clue.
* Some new bedroom slippers, or house shoes as my Mimi calls them. I’m still wearing Rudolph ones…
* That Joy the Baker would come over to my house and whip me up some of these Red Velvet Black and White Cookies...and decide she wants to be my friend in the process.
* Just enough snow to keep me at home one day.
