Who really wants to spend money on a vacuum cleaner? It’s much more fun to buy lovely little drawer knobs or dog sweaters. Nevertheless, Kell and I are in need. We don’t have a whole lot of carpet in our house (only the 3 bedrooms), but we can’t very well dust-buster 300 square feet of carpet. I guess we could, but I’m certainly not and I can guarantee Kell’s not interested.
Any suggestions on a vacuum cleaner (and why do I always try to spell vacuum with 2 c’s?)? We need something with decent power that can do carpet and bare floors. And if you think we didn’t drool over the Dyson DC 25 Animal (specially designed for homes with pets, of course), you are dead wrong. Something about that arrogant British guy really makes me believe he has the best vacuum cleaner in the history of the universe. How far we have sunk – dreaming of a home appliance!?!

We just bought this:

We have a bunch of rugs and all hardwood and this was fine for us. Just $50 and does the job. HOWEVER, all but one of the blue colors is crazy...they look normal on the box, but the red is really pink, etc.
If you want to get by on the cheap, I recommend this!
Lewis believes if you are to spend money on anything home related a vacuum is worthy... seriously. he uses the Dyson Animal...
mine is from home depot and it is terrible
We had a dirt devil for years and it was terrible- Jason researched best Vac for the Price, and Animal Hair and the Kenmore Progressive Intelliclean rated the best. We bought it at Sears right after christmas- and I LOVE it. Since you dont have a ton of carpet, this might be over kill- but we have frizze' and it was the perfect fit.
It's less expensive than the dyson too....
When we came across this same predicament about 9 months ago, we picked a Eureka. We should have just thrown our money out the window on our way to Target. It is horrible. Jeremy has to practically take it apart everytime use it to clean out all the carpet fuzz & hair that seems to fall from my head. Good luck on your search! :)
Ooooh, am I the person to ask! I LOVE my Dyson DC25! We have a dog and a cat, and I can't imagine the animal working any better for the extra weight and cost. Before I bought, I did lots of research on ConsumerReports, and that was the general consensus. Truly, truly happy with it. You would not BELIEVE the stuff that came out of our carpets. And it's safe for our Orientals.
And I bought it for 28% off! Bed Bath & Beyond matches prices for brick and mortar stores. So I went to google.com shopping and found the best deal I could. I printed out that advertisement (I think it was from BestBuy) and took along a Bed Bath & Beyond 20% off coupon.
Also, I would definitely go with a Ball, no matter which model you choose. Even Mike likes to vacuum now!
I've been dreaming of owning a dyson for years-- even with my all hardwood floors. i only have one tiny rug in my kitchen because every vacuum i've ever bought immediately burns up the engine due to endless shedding of my own hair.
I hate to break it to you, but we LOVE our Dyson Animal. And you know how those shelties can shed. We have had it for two years now, and it is still rocking. FYI...I saw some the other day at Tuesday Morning.
Love Love Love my Dyson Animal. It's very light and turns so easily (on the ball). Highly recommend. Love.it.
You did not grow up in a well-vacuumed house! MOM
Just go ahead and get the Dyson. It's well worth the money! We have a golden retriever (who sheds fine blonde hair constantly) and a schnauzer. It has been a great vacuum, and we've had it for over a year. You won't regret buying it!
WHAT ABOUT AN ORECK?! Remember how badly I wanted one as a child?
Larkin and I bit the dust a few years back and bought this Dyson. It was worth every penny and the thought of "I am so glad we bought this vacuum" crosses my mind everytime I use it! Go ahead and fork out the dough...you will be SO glad that you did!! And if you need any more help on justifying this purchase please let me know! =)
I got the $40 job at Wal-Mart, and trust me... it works JUST fine for limited amounts of carpet. Anisa is right on the money with her suggestion... go for the cheapo, Mary Straton. Find a better use for those hard-earned bucks!
